aggravation
ugh..if any of you have attended college and had to deal with the financial aid office you know my pain. I was awarded financial aid for the Fall 2005 term. The office has had all of this posted on my fall information since mid summer when I was sent and accepted the award, however i found out today it has not been certified and processed until today (so they say)...i can go out there tomorrow after 2 pm and fill out the loan application. School starts monday august 29, my classes don't start until wednesday, but i would like to get my books for class.

here's my gripe---they had ALL FREAKIN' SUMMER to do all this. I know they handle quite a few things during the semester but come on people, you dont' jack around with people's financial aid packages. We depend on them to pay tuitition, books, room/board/rent, school supplies, etc. Now, I have to use other money that is not intended for school to take care of things which in turn causes me more headaches and aggravation.

Thank you financial aid and you wonder why students do not like dealing with you. The mere mention of your office makes students want to crawl up into the fetal position on the bedrrom floors. UGHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Three in a Row
The boys are at Michigan again...last time out was back in June for the Batman Begins 400. Tony finished 2nd behind Greg Biffle while Jeff's outing wasn't as good...he finished 32nd that day. Let's do one better this time Tony---make it three in a row for me!

It wouldn't be too bad of a day if Jeff won or finished in the top five. He needs a good run. After Sunday, only three races left until the Chase.

NASCAR--My Obsession
Once again Tony Stewart dominated the weekend. CONGRATS TONY!

Jeff Gordon after a few mishaps finished 14th and only 67 points out from the top ten. He still has a chance to make it into the chase, but he will need some fantastic performances over the next four races (Michigan, Bristol, California, & Richmond). He needs a victory.

Will he or won't he? No, I 'm not talking about Jeff getting into the chase, I'm talking about
Roush letting Kurt Busch go after this season. He is still mulling over his choice in the matter. I think Roush should make Kurt honor his sponsor and team commitments. That's what Jamie McMurray is doing. Ganassi is making Jamie honor his contract. I still don't like the fact that Mark Martin may have to put off his retirement from Cup racing another year. Mark has already stated he wants to run in the truck series and be at home more with his family. Can't Roush honor that commitment to Martin? We will have to see how all of this plays out over the next coming weeks.

I just love to watch Inside Nextel Cup and Trackside on the
Speed Channel. Like last night on Inside Nextel Cup, Michael Waltrip, Kenny Wallace, and Johnny Benson were trying to be serious when answering the viewer's email questions. Ok...it was funny to see Michael and Kenny try to be somewhat serious. I really do like these guys. Ya gotta love Kenny's laugh. It's one of those contagious laughs--you can't help but laugh along with him. And I have to say Michael's NAPA Chevy Monte Carlo looked like crap after he slammed into the wall at the Glen on Sunday. He just had a rough weekend all the way around.

As some of you may know I will be heading out to my first NASCAR race in November at Texas Motorspeedway for the Dickies 500. This is the first year TMS has had a second race. This race will be the seventh race in the last 10. I hope the boys can give us a great race. I will be attending all three races that weekend as well as qualifying, and here's the best part of it all...PIT PASS! That's right folks..i shelled out the money to buy the pass. I get to wander the pits and see the cars up close and hopefully run into a few drivers. Wouldn't that be so cool to meet Tony Stewart and Jeff Gordon!!! Wow!!! I can't wait!!! Only 78 more days!!!

For those of you who occassionally stop by and visit you must understand my passion for NASCAR. Yes, I do go overboard a little on my posts especially of late, but hey at least I am not out running amok among the fine people of Lubbock, Texas. I am not the only one of my kind out there...at least I haven't tattooed myself with something NASCAR...well not yet at least...I am still musing that possibility...if you have any suggestions let me know. This is what I am thinking about...

And on last thing before I depart for the day...to the Dale Jr. fan who was in front of me this morning on my way to work...it's ok to move you BIG SUV out of my way--I won't run you over or put into the wall...I mean hey...it's not like we are on the racetrack or anything...

Peter Jennings
I watched the special last night on Peter Jennings. It was incredible. I don't know who I will turn to for my national news. He has been the only anchor at ABC for me. It will be strange to see someone else at the anchor desk. He was the best of the big 3 (Tom a close 2nd with Dan follow up the rear). As I read somewhere yesterday, my parents had Walter Cronkite, I had Peter Jennings. It is so true. He made you feel like you part of the story. He wanted to care about what he was reporting. I for one will miss him.

Good Night Mr. Jennings.

Busch & Leffler
Ok--I was not surprised by Leffler being released by Joe Gibbs Racing. He hasn't exactly been burning up the race track this season. The #11 will have Terry LaBonte, J.J. Yeley, and Denny Hamlin rotating races until the end of the season.

I was shocked to see that Kurt Busch will be driving for Penske beginning in 2007 and wants to be let out of his contract for 2006. I have never been a fan of Kurt Busch. I know he won the championship last year, but it was under the new rules. Jeff Gordon would have won his 5 title if the old rules had been in play, but that's a discussion for another time. He has been having a rough season this year, but he is still in the top 10 and poised to make a run for the chase. I do wonder what is happening over at the Roush camp. First the whole McMurray drama and then mix in a little Kenseth for even more drama and now this. I wonder what is going on over there.

We will see how all this plays out in the coming weeks...stay tuned

Kissin' the Bricks
All the stars were lined up for Mr. Tony Stewart. No one was going to deny him his vicotry at Indy. He fulfilled a life long dream of his by winning the Allstate 400 at the Brickyard yesterday in Tony Stewart style. With that victory and along with the misfortunes of Jimmy Johnson, Stewart is now at the top of the mountain.

CONGRATULATIONS MR. STEWART!!!!! ENJOY THIS VICTORY!!!!!

dead skunk and duct tape
received this picture in my email today...the car is demonstrating the next use of duct tape..notice where the car is going and where the car is from..OKLAHOMA!!--enough said. I am hoping these people were on their way out of Texas...we don't need any of these people dipping into the Texas gene pool.

on the way to work the dj was talking about a man who trapped a skunk and then called animal control to kill the skunk..and then here's the kicker..the city fined him for using an illegal trap..this man is an eighty year old taking care of his invalid wife...he was doing his civic duty...and how does the city of lubbock repair him...fine him$187 dollars...YIKES!...there's something wrong with that picture..any way this leads up to the skunk song the dj played in his honor...it is called "Dead Skunk"

i thought i was going to die from laughter and i was trying to drive to work...the lyrics to the song are hilarious..the site i found has a midi file (kinda sucks), but well worth the look for the lyrics...so check out Dead Skunk by Loudon Wainwright III

thank you
i would like to thank the person who turned right and didnt' give their signal--did they not make your model car with turn signals??? if they didn't i would return your car to the dealership and have them fix it...do your realize that a big blue suv cannot stop on a dime???

i would also like to thank the old guy in the cadillac i was behind during 5:00 rush hour--thank for going well below the speed limit and make it dangerous for not only me, but others around you who might come up behind and have to slow down--here's an idea...DON'T DRIVE BETWEEN THE HOURS OF 5-6 PM MON-FRI. Luckily, i didn't really want to get home from a long day at work.

i would also like to thank all of you people who feel the need to stop at the front entrances of walmart...thank you for causing all the traffic jams! are we that lazy that we can't walk a few feet to the door and then you get mad when other cars go ahead you because you are too stupid to realize you are causing a traffic hazard...

thank you to the guy driving the escalade who was parked in front of the united supermarket entrance...thank you for parking and causing a major traffic jam last sunday right during the church rush...and didn't it even occur to you that you stupid vehicle was causing not only me, but others to drive around you and thus creating all kinds of problems--next time park your stupid and vehicle and walk your happy butt into the store.

thank you to those who drive down 50th street between slide and the loop (specifically between silde and chicago...it goes to one lane and there is signage stating this fact..if you drive the street regularly you know this...you also know that the cars tend to make frequent turns in this stretch of road..i give my signal when i am planning to turn...don't get in a huffy when you have to slam on your brakes b/c you were going toe fast (this isn't your personal drag strip) and you nearly run into me...i gave my signal for this purpose to let you know that i am turning...you are lucky my suv has working turn signals installed...if you were behind the lady who didn't have them installed on her car who knows what kind of mess you would have created (see first thank you)...

and for my last thank you--to the guy who nearly caused a 3 car accident
