Jaws--My Little Jawbreaker
Went to the mall last night to get some candy from my favorite candy store..the usually stuff..jelly bellies (sour), gummy bears. I am rathered fascinated by the selection of candy they have at this store. They have something called White Trash--wonderfully delicious and highly addictive. You can eat a sucker with a worm in it and get your picture on the wall (don't have the nerve yet to do that--if i am going to eat a worm...there better be some tequilla involved). But last night I found something that shocked me to the core...a giant jawbreaker. Ok--you are probably thinking giant jawbreakers have been around for some time, but not this one..if it is has I haven't seen it in the store. It literally could break someone's jaw. If you don't believe me..check it out below

Here is your standard tennis ball...nothing special about it

Here is "Jaws" by himself....

and here is a comparison of them both...see "Jaws" is bigger than a tennis ball

pocono
i am so not on top of things these days...pocono was good..another top 10, but no fence climbing this week for mr. stewart...

i just don't know if jeff or dale will make the chase...as in the words of Jerry Reed..."we've got a long way to go and a short time to get there..."

i know i am being a little pessimistic, but i just don't know..indy is coming up and it's one of his tracks, but ugh...come one jeff...need a top 10 here...a win or top 5 would be even better...

it is an off weekend for the cup racers...don't know what i will do on sunday...there will be an empty void...any suggestions???

oh---tony's car was on display at the home depot in lubbock back on july 19---wasn't able to go due to the fact that i was working and i was learning all about public policy, but in cased you missed it too..here are some pics.

schoolhouse rock
i was sitting in my policy class this week and we were discussing congress and how a bill becomes law and then the old schoolhouse rock "i'm just a bill" came up in the conversation. There were several of my classmates who have never heard of it and here's the shocking part...they had no clue what schoolhouse rock was...ugh...i guess for the first time i felt my age...i have to admit i am in a class where most of the people were born after 1980...but come..i thought everyone had at least heard of schoolhouse rock..where else could you learn about american history, science, math, grammar and watch saturday morning cartoons??? and people thought tv wasn't educational...i still to this day can recite all the words to the preamble albeit i have to sing because that little ditty from schoolhouse rock pops in the brain...

my personal favorite is "i'm just a bill"...here's a pic of Bill and the lyrics...you can sing along if you want...no one will laugh at you. you can "sing along" with your other favorites if you want here at this schoolhouse rock lyrics site.

Boy: Woof! You sure gotta climb a lot of steps to get to this Capitol Building here in Washington. But I wonder who that sad little scrap of paper is?

I'm just a bill.Yes, I'm only a bill.And I'm sitting here on Capitol Hill.Well, it's a long, long journeyTo the capital city.It's a long, long waitWhile I'm sitting in committee,But I know I'll be a law somedayAt least I hope and pray that I will,But today I am still just a bill.

Boy: Gee, Bill, you certainly have a lot of patience and courage.

Bill: Well I got this far. When I started, I wasn't even a bill, I was just an idea. Some folks back home decided they wanted a law passed, so they called their local Congressman and he said, "You're right, there oughta be a law." Then he sat down and wrote me out and introduced me to Congress. And I became a bill, and I'll remain a bill until they decide to make me a law.

I'm just a billYes I'm only a bill,And I got as far as Capitol Hill.Well, now I'm stuck in committeeAnd I'll sit here and wait While a few key Congressmen discuss and debateWhether they should let me be a law.How I hope and pray that they will,But today I am still just a bill.

Boy: Listen to those congressmen arguing! Is all that discussion and debate about you?

Bill: Yeah, I'm one of the lucky ones. Most bills never even get this far. I hope they decide to report on me favourably, otherwise I may die.

Boy: Die?

Bill: Yeah, die in committee. Oooh, but it looks like I'm gonna live! Now I go to the House of Representatives, and they vote on me.

Boy: If they vote yes, what happens?

Bill: Then I go to the Senate and the whole thing starts all over again.

Boy: Oh no!

Bill: Oh yes!

I'm just a billYes, I'm only a billAnd if they vote for me on Capitol HillWell, then I'm off to the White HouseWhere I'll wait in a lineWith a lot of other billsFor the president to signAnd if he signs me, then I'll be a law.How I hope and pray that he will,But today I am still just a bill.

Boy: You mean even if the whole Congress says you should be a law, the president can still say no?

Bill: Yes, that's called a veto. If the President vetoes me, I have to go back to Congress and they vote on me again, and by that time you're so old...

Boy: By that time it's very unlikely that you'll become a law. It's not easy to become a law, is it?

Bill: No!

But how I hope and I pray that I will,But today I am still just a bill.

Congressman: He signed you, Bill! Now you're a law!

Bill: Oh yes!!!

tx school finance
once again our illustrious state legislators have yet to decide/vote on a school financing bill...they are still debating this issue..if they can't get it done this by toady then another special session will have to be called by governor perry again.

school starts in
lubbock August 15...will they have a finance bill in place by this start date? is the $64 million dollar question--at this point it's going to be a crap shoot...they couldn't get it done during the regular session and it looks like they aren't going to get it done by this special session

here's the deal i have trouble wrapping myself around--if i didn't do get my assignment at work done which affected others in my department i would probably be fired from my job--unfortunately we have to vote these people out of office...

we shall see if they can get the job done...now it's hurry up and wait time

anti gordon and other nascar musings
ok--this is for all of those people who don't like jeff gordon...what is your mission in life to let me know how much you despise and loathe jeff gordon? i know by being a fan of his it comes with the territory, but do you have to tell me every time? those of you who know me are fully aware of the fact that i am not a fan of junior, but i don't go around telling every single jr fan how much i loathe him...i am the first to admit jr is a one of the better nascar drivers around, but he is not the best. has he won any kind of cup championship? i know he lives in the shadow of his father and that must be a tremendous burden for him, but give me a break...people didn't like earnhardt sr...they booed as fiercely as they do jeff. i will admit that jeff should have known the words to "take me out to the ballgame" and that he was singing at Wrigley Field. For that he deserves all the boos he gets...come on Jeff most everyone around knows the words to that song. Some advice for ya--don't quit your day job and remember the baseball gods are not kind...oh by the way jeff has won four...count them with me...four nascar championships!

What is the deal with the commenters for NASCAR? For the past couple of weeks there has been mention of tony stewart's size. I dont' see anything wrong with him. Sure he may have put on a little weight, but it's not like he let himself go..I wouldn't kick him out of bed. See for yourself.
Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Sure he made the comment he was "too damn fat" to climb that fence at Daytona, but i think all of the drivers would have had trouble with it...i certainly would have..but he still looked good climbing that fence

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

ok--so who is going to drive the #6 next year? wouldn't it be cool to see mark and rusty do some kind of tandem driving for roush..they wouldn't have to do the whole season...how cool would that be??? maybe they will move jamie up next year instead of 2007...keep ya updated

ugh
ever have one of those days where you just don't fell like doing anything..well today is one of those days...i dont' want to be at work..i just want to be home curled up under my tony stewart blanket watching tv...i wish i was independently wealthy then i could buy a motorhome and travel the nascar circuit..that's february-november every year..a girl can dream can't she..

yesterday was kind of cool..the slurpee is 40 years old..and 7-eleven was giving away free slupies yesterday..that's right 7.11 ounces of frozen delight and..you guessed it 7-11..HAPPY BIRTHDAY SLURPEE!!!

Harry potter release only 4 days away..it's probably less than that, but i am not really counting the hours away..i still haven't read the 5th book..i guess i ought to get busy...for all you harry potter fans get rested so you can stand for hours at the bookstore waiting for the next book...

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

the last time a harry potter book came out i spent several hours at a bookstore with my husband and good friend waiting so he could buy his copy...i will never do that again..ugh!!!--made me rethink the whole having a kid thing and i didn't realize how many geeky kids there were in the world...i guess my husband is one at heart..it wasn't like he couldn't have waited until the nxt day to purchase his book...at a decent hour for god sake...this time around we pre-ordered...that's probably what he will be doing this weekend..oh well more time for me to watch my nascar...

as i was watching some of the million hours of hurricane dennis coverage, i began to realize something..maybe living in a land lock area isn't so bad after all..ok we may have an occasional tornado, but hey those don't last for days on end...poof out of the cloud...touch down destroy a few things...and poof gone...a tornado knows how not to wear out its welcome...and poor florida..they are still recovering from last year's devastation..that's reason #236 why i don't want to live in florida...my thoughts are with those in florida as they pick up the pieces of the devastation...

Chicago--not my kind of town
i really didn't feel like posting after this weekend....ok so dale jr. finally won after not winning for 19 races in a row..big freakin' deal...what about mark martin? he hasn't won since dover last year (you can't really count the all-star race---not a points race). dale is still out of the chase...he he

i wish matt kensenth would have won instead of jr. matt had the better car, but i guess pit strategy kinda sucked...
Image hosted by Photobucket.com
tony had a sweet ride as well considering it was his backup car. tony introduced himself to the wall coming out of turn 4 on friday during practice and had to revert to that old backup...not bad for a backup..he finished 5th. that's another top 5 for mr. stewart and he's 3rd in the standing only 151 points back of jimmie johnson...

chicago wasn't kind to jeff this past weekend...of course the last time he was in chicago it was kind to him either...it still pains me to watch his attempt at "singing" at Wrigley Field. See what happens when you mess with the baseball gods...they are not kind. Jeff has some ground to make up over the next few weeks--he's 509 points out right now...YUCK!!!!

news of the week--jamie mcmurray will race for Roush in the #6 car starting in 2007. that makes me wonder who will drive the #6 next year...could it be mark part time? there was some scuttlebutt that maybe jamie will go ahead and start with the #6 next year...it would make sense to do so since he is going to be in it for 2007...plus why would you want to keep someone on the team who really doesn't want to be there??? we shall see how it all plays out

atlanta motor speedway was hit by a tornado when tropical storm Cindy came through the atlanta area
Image hosted by Photobucket.com

estimated costs to repair--$25-40 million dollars!!! plus they need to get things repaired for the next race weekend at atlanta in october...

as much as i want to comment on the greg biffle comment...(called harvick a punk and a chicken)...i just don't have the strength or energy today...let them settle it out on the track

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
one final note...was playing NASCAR 2005 on Playstation last night driving the #20 car...like the game, but it is pain when you have to use the joystick that is extra sensitive...i don't know how many times i ran into the wall or slide into the infield...the ony good thing about it was i could take out jr and feel good about it...maybe if i had the steering wheel controller i would do better...oh well

good luck at louden this week boys---see ya at the races!

Daytona-Part II
I was reminded yesterday by that person (and once again you know who you are) that I failed to mention any of the other events that happened at Daytona. So here ya go!

Mark Martin (your driver) was knocked out early on. Jeff Gordon was signaling to the driver behind him that he was going to pit. He gave the wave to Jamie McMurray. I am assuming that Jamie saw it, however Scott Riggs wasn't able to whoa up in time. This caused Mark Martin to swerve to try and avoid him and thus meeting the Daytona wall and well...you know the rest. I was just waiting for the other shoe to drop. I was waiting for that person (mentioned earlier) to say it was my driver's fault that Mark ended up like he did, but he didn't blame him. Jeff did what he was supposed to do. I think deep, deep down he really likes Jeff, but he just doesn't want to admit it.

Speaking of Jeff, it seemed you were not happy that you were back in under that 400 point range after the race. I know the top ten is what you are looking for, but it's a start. Baby steps--baby steps--hey, look at it this way, you have a better shot at making the chase than Dale Jr.

Dale Jr. did have a good race. I think it helped his confidence, but I just don't know if he has enough time to dig himself out of the hole. He needs for both Biffle and Johnson to have a bad day at the races on the same day. It seems when ones is doing good the other is doing not so good. It just equalizes everything.

I am still not sure how I feel about NBC/TNT coverage of NASCAR yet. They have only had one race under their belt and it was delayed by 2 hours.

Only 4 months from today until Texas! I will be there watching all the excitement of the weekend...TRUCKS, BUSCH, CUP...OH MY! I am so excited!!!! This will be my first race weekend. I have been told by others who follow NASCAR, once you attend your first race, you will want to go to others. I have no doubt about that fact.

Good Luck on Sunday boys!!!

Even when he wasn't leading the race--he didn't take him long to get out in front. The move late in the race where Tony passed four cars on the outside was AWESOME!!!! That was some DAMN fine drivin' if I do say so myself!! No one was going to catch Mr. Stewart--and I mean no one!

Good Luck next week at Chicago--three in a row!!!
