Football Boys
Trixie radioed...

The Park is predominately dedicated to my NASCAR boys, but I just have to give my shout out to my football boys.

I am a Cowboys fan. It is somewhat a requirement if you are a Texan. I know there are others in Texas that are not Cowboy fans, but whatever. I am still waiting for the Boys to get a decent quarterback. I know Drew is a good quarterback, but I long for the days to see Troy Aikman grace the field at Texas Stadium. Oops...kinda worked in NASCAR in that one.

Next to NASCAR, football is the other sport that drives me. I have been watching football since I was a little girl. I remember watching Woody Hayes and hearing all about the Ohio State Buckeyes from my father. I am still a fan to this day. If you follow football you know Michigan and Ohio State are mortal rivals. So, how did I end up with marrying a Michigan fan? I think is my karma coming back to bite me in the ass.

Postman thinks I am nuts because I tend to like players from teams he CANNOT stand. I am a HUGE Joe Montana fan. It is still a sore subject with my husband about "The Catch".

I like Brett Favre and Peyton Manning and I do like that Ben fellow over there at Pittsburgh. Do you see a pattern here?

So this is the time of the year where our home becomes a battle ground--Football (particularly the Cowboys) or NASCAR. Somehow we all know how it ends up.

Race 2: Dover
Trixie radioed...

Hey Ya'll watch this....I am so excited that Jeff Burton won. He has been having a great year and he has been so close this year to winning several races. Jeff's last win came in 2001. CONGRATULATIONS JEFF!!!! You definitely tamed the Monster Mile today Mr. Burton! With his win Jeff is now the points leader. (How 'bout them apples Mr. Dilner!!)

The Monster Mile was definitely unkind to the Chasers today.
Kyle Busch--engine problems
Kasey Kahne--crash with Tony
Dale Earnhardt--tire issues
Kevin Harvick--blown engine

It looks like it is definitely over for Kyle. You can't have two bad races in a row and expect to make a run for the championship. It hurt when Tony got loose and ended up changing Kasey's chances. As Tony mentioned last week, he didn't want to be the guy to take one of the Chasers out. And from what I have read, you could tell he felt bad about what happened. Tony's car got loose and Kasey was in the wrong place at the wrong time. The picture to the right just about say it all.

Other highlights...Elliott looked awesome out front today! Way to go Elliott!

That's two down and eight more to go. As today has shown, the tide for any of the Chasers can turn on a dime. Things just got interesting. Matt and the RCR boys are still the ones to beat. And I hate to say this but, you can't count out that Dupont guy.

Next up...the Land of Oz. Have a great week everyone!

RCR--A Race Fan's Opinion
**All opinions expressed on this site are those of Trixie. Whether you agree with me or not, it's just my opinion...nothing else.**

Last week on Speed, Speed reporter Bob Dilner reported that RCR teams of Harvick and Burton were using a "bleeder valve" on their tires that would release air and give their tires optimal pressure for racing performance. Those at RCR are fuming about the report. You could definitely see that today by the comments made both Kevin and Clint after the Busch race. I cannot blame them either. A reporter goes on national television show and bascially calls them cheaters. I for one would have been quite furious. I have never really liked Mr. Dilner as a reporter. I think he is a goober. I am not a reporter and as much as it sounds like a cool gig, I wouldn't want the job. Mr. Dilner and Speed stand behind the story.

Yesterday I read where a former employee Andrew Corrente of RCR filed a lawsuit against RCR claiming wrongful termination, defamation and breach of contract against the team. Could this person been the source of Dilner's report? Or is this a disgruntled former employee trying to get back at his former employer? I am looking forward tomorrow on Race Day and Countdown to Green to see how all this is reported.

RCR has come back this year determined to prove to everyone they have stepped out of the shadows of tragedy to become contenders again. Dale Earnhardt Sr. was the heart of the organization and when he died it devastated the team. To me Kevin Harvick has the talent and bravado to bring RCR back to championship form. The addition of Jeff Burton as well as Clint Bowyer has created a trifecta for RCR. (Hey Tiredawg..there's that #3 for you.) I would love to see Kevin win both championships. But you know you will have those naysayers who will bring all this stuff up.

Congratulations to the RCR boys today! Clint wins his first Busch race of the year while Kevin finishes third.

Trixie radioed...

Tony was on Trackside this evening and he DEFINITELY looks relaxed. Apparently someone booed when they were showing clips of last year's Championship celebration at Homstead. Tony turned and told whoever opened their mouth...you can boo all you want I already won the championship--HE HE!! That's the Tony we all know and love. Tony now has a personal trainer. Where we those interviews??? I would love to be his "personal trainer." I think Tony should be guest commentator on Trackside next year. Hey Elliott...can I come huntin' over at your place??? Can you imagine Tony AND Elliott??? What??? OK..I'm back.

(Picture note...I guess Travis just gets time in the Park, because I like this picture of Tony and wanted to put it the Park.)

Can I just say OUCH!!! Poor JJ, he crashed in practice and has to go to a back up car. That looked like that hurt JJ.

Oh, I guess I could report that Jeff Gordon won the pole for Sunday's race.

Good Luck boys!!

I'm Here To Report...
Trixie radioed...

I am a little behind on my reading the last couple of days. I have been battling whatever crap everyone around me has. I spent two days away from work and now I have two days left to play catch...ugh!

I did it...I actually did it. I bought the NEW 10th anniversery "Tickle Me Elmo". I do have the first edition sitting at my mom's house. I kind of like the older version. He is more cuddly than the newer version. He does a little more than his older predecessor. Oh well..

I am not sure what to make of the Bob Dilner report. I would like to think he wouldn't be THAT stupid as to report something without checking ALL the facts. I just have one question...why is it when someone or even a team is having a good year people begin to suspect you have circumvented the rules? I know Kevin's crew chief has been caught with his hand in the cookie jar before, but do you really think he would want to jeopardize the team's chance in the Chase? To me if anyone would want to gain an edge it would be those who have the most to lose. If you have something to report, CHECK YOUR FREAKIN' FACTS FIRST!!! I got two words for you Bob...DAN RATHER!!!

Terry LaBonte will get a Texas size salute come November as Terry LaBonte makes his final appearance at TMS. And I will be there to see it all happen!

One more thing...I had on my Tony Stewart desk calendar for months...count them months of when the #20 show car was going to be at our newest Home Depot here in the Hubaplex...and guess what??? That's right...another dumb ass move of the week..I MISSED IT!!! Of course...I was watching the race and doing homework. Oh well...maybe next time.

That's about it here on the home front.

Race 1: Louden
Trixie radioed...

All I can say about the first race...AWESOME!!!

Kevin Harvick just dominated today. RCR is DEFINITELY back. I still think either Kevin or Matt are the guys to beat. Kevin is leading the Cup points for the first time in his Cup career. I would love for Kevin to win both the Cup and Busch in the same year, but we all know there's a long way to go and anything can happpen along the way.

Things didn't start too well for HMS. Kyle ended up having a "meet and greet" with one of the walls. Oh what a shame....NOT!

And of course that was me you heard screaming all the way from Texas. I was doing the happy dance out here in West Texas. How does it feel Jimmie???? Need some Kleenex? Guess Chad can't "fix" this one for ya!!!

I just want to say that Tony drove like a mad man today. He looked like the Champion he is and always will be. He started back in 32nd spot and finished 2nd! DID YOU HEAR THAT PEOPLE??? 2ND SPOT!!! I just wish that kind of run happened last week instead of this week, but oh well. In the post race interview, he definitely sounded happy. I think the big pressure is off for him. He just go out there and have FUN!

I haven't reported on Elliott lately. I would just like to say he has another top ten since moving to the #19. That would be him finishing 6th today. I think he will be a contender next year! Besides I really like his new car colors...red and black.

Standings after Race 1
1. Kevin H. (HAPPY, HAPPY, JOY, JOY)
2. Denny H. (way to go Rookie)
3. Matt K. (you were definitely quite today)
4. Jeff G. (too bad you didn't follow suite as Jimmie and Kyle)
5. Jeff B. (you were were running great today)
6. Mark M. (crazy old man)
7. Dale Jr. (you sounded disappointed...remember there are 10 races not one)
8. Kasey K. (what happened??)
9. Jimmie J. (WOO HOO!!!!)
10. Kyle B. (a double WOO HOO!!!)

Much Ado About Nothing
Trixie radioed...

Early in the week I mentioned Survivor would begin its new season last night. The tribes would be divided by racial makeup. I wasn't sure if I was going to watch or not. I decided to tune in to see what all the fuss was--kind of like when you drive by a car wreck...you know you shouldn't look, but your CURIOUSITY gets the better of you. In my opinion, it was the same old Survivor. I still don't know if I will watch all season. I really wasn't hooked in as I have been in the past. I switched over to ABC to watch reruns of Grey's Anatomy. (Program note..NEW SEASON STARTS THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 21.)

But, it is now FRIDAY, and my attention will turn to NASCAR. I think Tony will surprise people. He will be racing for FUN! No points, no pressure, just sheer unadulterated FUN!!!! It has been somewhat pretty cool to have a fellow Tony Stewart fan in my office. She really liked my Tony Stewart Helmet Halloween Candy bucket so much she went and got one herself. I found mine at our local Walmart last year. They have Junior and Gordo too. Those are the only ones I have seen at our Walmart.

Those who know I follow NASCAR have asked me who I think will win this year? To be honest, it is anyone's championship. All the drivers in the Chase deserve to be there. Since Tony did not make the Chase it has been interesting to read all the media coverage of it. This happened last year when Gordo and Junior didn't make the Chase. For me it is a non-story now...all I know is that I will be at TMS in less than 7 weeks!!!!

Sidebar..I will be attending a professional conference in Indianpolis in October! Bad news...can't get over to Indy to take tour or make a side trip to Tony's home town to get a shake. But at least I will get to visit the fine city of Indianapolis.

Give 'em hell Tony and Elliott!!!!

Top 10
Trixie radioed...

As presented on Late Night with David Letterman last night by The Chasers

Top 10 Things Never Before Said by A NASCAR Driver

10. Kasey Kahne: "Anyone know how to drive a stick?"

9. Jeff Gordon: "Does this gas taste funny to you?"

8. Jeff Burton: "I don't care much for country music or beer"

7. Mark Martin: "Switch the 'r' and 'c' in 'racing' and you get 'caring'"

6. Dale Earnhardt Jr.: "Wow, Letterman looks so young in person"

5. Denny Hamlin: "You're looking at a guy who can drive 500 miles without taking a leak"

4. Kyle Busch: "A truly great driver doesn't mind asking for directions, am I right, ladies?"

3. Kevin Harvick: "It would be nice if the guys in the pits occasionally surprised me with a piece of carrot cake or something"

2. Jimmie Johnson: "The Nextel Cup is great, but what I'm really excited for is Late Show Ventriloquist Week"

1. Matt Kenseth: "If you think I'm fast in my car, you should see me in the bedroom"

Ann Richards
Texas lost one of her own yesterday. Former governor Ann Richards passed away after her battle with especially cancer. She was 73.

She made a big splash at the 1988 Democratic National Convention when she uttered the famous quote about then Vice President, George Bush, "Poor George, he can't help it...He was born with a silver foot in his mouth." She was the Texas governor from 1991-1994. She was the first female governor elected since Miriam Amanda "Ma" Ferguson who had two non consecutive terms, and who had been preceded as governor by her husband, James E. "Pa" Ferguson. She lost her reelection bid to current President George W. Bush.

She left her mark on Texas. For example, she appointed appointed more women and more minorities to state posts than any of her predecessors. For example, she appointed the first African American University of Texas board of regeant, the first teacher to lead the State Board of Education, and the Texas Rangers pinned stars on their first African American and women officiers.

She is a personality, I feel, bigger than Texas. She cut her own path in Texas politics. She was savvy, intelligent, and a Texan through and through. My thoughts and prayers are with her friends and family today.

Give 'em hell Ann!

Why???
Trixie radioed...

Ok...so here I am still trying to deal with the fact that Tony will not be a Chaser this season. So I have to keep my mind on other things and so I have decided to watch Dancing With The Stars. I did watch a few episodes from each of the last two seasons, but this season, I think I will become a regular watcher. How can I not???...come on people...Jerry Springer is one of the contestants!!!! I missed Emmitt Smith's dance last night because we were out eating dinner. However, on the results show tonight, Emmitt and his partner performed their routine again...damn Emmitt rocked! (Note...I did go and vote. Who you might ask??? Jerry of course.)

So the first off...Tucker Carlson (MSNBC anchor) and his partner Elena Grinekno. They replayed their routine and I have to say...yuck. I did get to see Jerry Springer and he wasn't the best dancer, but he looked like he was having fun--JERRY!!! JERRY!!! JERRY!!!

Another confession..tonight is Wednesday and I am gearing up for Project Runway. I am truly addicted to this show and have been from the first season. I can't explain it, but I really love to watch this show. Also on starting up again on Bravo is Top Chef--Season 2.

Oh for you Survivor fans, it starts tomorrow night. If you haven't heard yet, they are planning to split the tribes by race this season. I am not sure if I will watch. I think I am Survivored out. I may watch the first episode just to see if it will catch my interest. I think Survivor has run its course. Sure it is occassionally fun to watch complete strangers backstab each other, but it's the same old same old.

See what happens when my focus is NOT on NASCAR....I begin to ramble on about random things.

ONE MORE BROADCAST NOTE...GREY'S ANATOMY NEW SEASON STARTS NEXT THURSDAY..DID YOU HEAR ME PEOPLE??? NEXT THURSDAY!!!!! WOO HOO!!!

Always remember...

Five years ago today America changed forever. United Airlines Flight 175 and American Airlines Flight 11 crashed into the World Trade Center. Within two hours, Tower 1 and Tower 2 were no more. A third plane, American Airlines Flight 77 crashed into the Pentagon, and United Airlines Flight 93 crashed in a field near Shanksville, Pennysylvania. As I watched the reports of the day's events being reported, the true definition of HERO emerged that day. I was humbled and still am today.

As you are moving about your day, take a moment to remember not only those who were lost, but those who were left behind.

God Bless.

The Chase
The Chasers have been set. Unfortunately Tony will not be one of those Chasers, but this post isn't about Tony.

I am excited that RCR is back to championship form. Kevin Harvick and Jeff Burton are both having great seasons. How AWESOME would it be if Kevin won both titles???? And how 'bout that rookie??? Congrats to Denny for making the Chase. As I watched the final laps of the race last night, I realized there will be 7 drivers in this year's Chase that were on the outside looking in last year. Only Matt, Mark, and Jimmie were in last year's Chase.

I don't really know who I would like to see win the championship this year. There are several drivers who I would love to win. I think Matt and Kevin have the momentum to carry them to the top. You can't count out that "crazy old man". I think he really wants this title. Then there's Jeff Burton who I think is the dark horse of the Chasers. But then there's Kasey who stepped up and made the Chase. Even though I am not a fan of those drivers from HMS, you can't count them out. Jimmie who I consider the Buffalo Bills of the Chase may finally win one (of course this would be upsetting for me). You also have a four time champion in Jeff Gordon and the youngster Kyle Busch who will also be factors. And of course, you have the rookie, Denny Hamlin (Tony's teammate) who you wouldn't even know is a rookie except for those little yellow stripes on the back of his car. Of course last, but certainly not least, Dale Earnhardt Jr. This will certainly be an interesting Chase this year.

IT'S GAME ON BOYS!!!

My Tony
Trixie radioed...

Tony finished 11th in the points. 16 points...16 lousy points from being in the Chase. But he can NOW focus on finishing 11th and winning that bonus money and a seat on the stage.

Tony still is #1 in my book. You can only control what you do. HE IS STILL A CHAMPION!!! Now the pressure is OFF...he can relax and just race for the next ten races.

Congratulations to those who made the Chase this year. It will definitely be interesting, but for me the Chase is over.

Looks like Tony will be using his back up car this weekend. He crashed in practice today. His car looks like CRAP!!! See for yourself.

Congraulations to Denny Hamlin for winning the pole for tomorrow night's race.

Kevin Harvick is on FIRE!!! That's a SIX pack for Mr. Harvick! Plus Mr. Jeff Burton won the pole for the Busch race. It has been wonderful seeing RCR back wiht a vengence. How cool would it be to see him not only the Busch title, but the Cup title as well.

Postman got excited with one of Scott Wimmer's sponsors---the United States Postal Service. Who knew a USPS vehicle could move that fast???? This was the only picture that I could find of Scott's car. I don't think this is how a postal vehcile should be driven.

Tidbit One: Finally got my MacBook!!! No more using the damaged laptop...well until I move all files over to new computer.

Tidbit Two: Going to Indianapolis in October for a professional conference. Unfortunately I won't have time to visit Indy or take a little side trip to Columbus.

Tidbit Three: Postman bought the new NASCAR 2007 game. You know the one...Elliott is the featured cover man!

Tidbit Four: Richmond is Saturday night and The Chase Drivers will be decided! Go Tony!!!!

Tidbit Five: Less than 2 months from TMS race weekend. I can't wait!!

Folks that's about it for now. Tomorrow night is Busch racing and then it all unfolds on Saturday night!!! Who's in and Who's out??? That will be the 64,000 dollar question.

1st day...new team
Trixie radioed...

Today was my first day with my "new team". I am very anxious to get started. I was WITHOUT MY computer today because the computer guy was setting everything up for me. I did have access to a computer, but it was my student assistant's computer and it was an old one. But I was able to read the old email and catch up on a few things.

Today was also "Cake Day" at my new gig. They celebrate everyone's birthday at the beginning of the month..and well today was that day! How cool...cake on my first day with the new team.

My office is pretty cool. I actually have a window. That's right...a real window. I looks out to a couryard. The other "new" person (who started last week) has a view of a parking lot. Of course when one doesn't have a true window for the last year and half you feel like you have hit the jackpot.

Of course, with every new team, you meet all the new "teammates". As I mentioned before I would be working in an office with a fellow NASCAR fan. I didn't know until today who her favorite driver was. I didn't care as long as it wasn't Princess Jimmie. Well...guess what...SHE IS A FELLOW TONY STEWART FAN!!!! THAT'S RIGHT MY PEEPS!!!! A TONY STEWART FAN!!!!

I am a little tired. I have been organizing files, putting up my things, and my wonderful husband Postman even bought a little fridge for me so I now won't have to haul my happy little butt to the "community fridge". I love you Postman!!!

Oh...I received my Smoke VIP renewal goodies today...(well actually I got them on Thursday, but couldn't get them until today from the apartment office). I got a black tee with "Smoke VIP" on it. I new sticker and a picture of the man himself with the Brickyward trophy!!! Yes..it will be added to the collection at work.

Until tomorrow....

Crocodile Hunter
It is a sad day...Steve Irwin aka the Crocodile Hunter was killed yesterday. He was filming a underwater documentary when he was stung in the chest by a stingray. He was only 44.

I have to say I will miss the Crocodile Hunter. I loved watching him "wrassle" all those crocodiles as well as other animals. I always thought he was crazy, but he always knew what he was doing. He will be missed.

My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends at this time.

Trixie radioed...

Congratulations to Kasey Kahne for doing what he needed to do to have a chance for The Chase. He led laps (5 bonus points). He led the most laps (5 bonus points). And finally he won the race! Next week will be interesting...there are 10 spots for 11 drivers. Hey, Jimmie, that's Matt Kenseth who is ahead of you in the standings.

It was so cool to Elliott up front and leading the race. I bet it felt good! I ordered a #19 shirt thanks to another Elliott fan for letting me know where I could get one.

Tony also finished in the top ten. Nice run Tony!

Richmond will definitely be fun to watch next week.

See ya Saturday night folks!!!!

So far...
Trixie radioed...

So I haven't posted in a few days...been taking care of some things on the home front.

Here's the weekend so far...

Big Shrub has the pole for the race today.

Congrats to Kasey on winning the Busch race on Saturday.

I bought a new NASCAR calendar at Walmart the other night. It has various NASCAR stars promiled each month during the year. Elliott Sadler is January...what a way to start off the year. And to my surprise...Tony is profiled in June. That's right...June people! My birthday month!!! I guess it will be January until June and it will be June until the end of 2007. Of course I will skip over the month they have Jimmie on profile. Oh..and the new NASCAR game comes out this week...Elliott is on the front cover and they have been showing the commercials...too bad he is in his old M&M attire. That's ok..he still looks good...

Good luck Tony!
