Infineon

I am back from vacation..it was nice..very relaxing. I went to Galveston and stayed at the Moody Gardens Hotel. It was a nice place. They put chocolates on my bed every night. I think if I go to Galveston again I might just stay there. A little pricey than I am used to, but it's worth every penny.

Infineon was a good race considering road races aren't my favorite races to watch. Jeff got the pole and I thought he was going to be the one to beat yesterday, but when his transmission started causing problems I knew it wasn't going to be his day. He finished 33rd. YIKES!!!!!

But the star of the day was Tony Stewart. He was driving his car like he stole it and with one hand too. That was some damn fine drivin'.


As most of you know I am not a Dale Jr. fan, but I thought he might have had a chance this weekend. He qualified 10th which was his best start at Infineon, however, he too had transmission issues. It seems his chances for making the chase are diminishing with each race. I think it is time he looks seriously at where he wants to be next year.

Side note--Jr. won Fox's NASCAR sexiest driver contest. Like that was a suprise victory.

Well--the boys are back at Daytona on Saturday and NBC/TNT takes over the race coverage from here on out. I really do like the boys at Fox. I wasn't impressed with NBC/TNT last year. There showed way too many commercials for my taste. Oh well..maybe things will improve this year.

PS--a note to that person who thinks I have jumped off the Jeff Gordon bandwagon (and you know who you are), you have received some misinformation from someone. I am still and will always be a Jeff Gordon fan. Get over yourself!

Michigan

Sorry for not posting after Pocono, but I was having trouble with my left front tire. What was the deal with the tires last Saturday? Every time you turned around someone was going out becuase of tire issues. I hope they can get these things fixed before the July Pocono race.

mindless activities

just wanted to give a shout out to one of my favorite columns by Whitney Matheson on USA Today called "Hip Clicks" as well as her weekly "Pop Candy" while surfing one day. I have been addicted ever since. Somtimes she will have links to interesting and unusual websites. I can't remember if I linked to this one directly or found it on via another site, but if you want to kill some time go to Kitten War.

I just love to find mindless websites. There is something intriguing to me about doing something where no thought process needs to take place. I work in an environment where I must think or make decisions on a daily basis. The last thing I want to do when I surf the web is think about things. If you are into calculators, here you go!

A friend of mine told me to visit this website called Angry Alien Production. Very funny stuff!

Just a reminder Tuesday, June 14 is Flag Day.

As my work day winds down I wonder if I could be like this guy--talk about job dedication.

I am still wondering about this bizarre tale of the Texas A&M student who disappeared back in 1998 and was recently found working in a Sam's Club in Kentucky. I can't imagine putting my family through that kind of ordeal. I guess she just didn't want to be with her family any more. She could have least called to let her family know she was ok.

Dover Dealings

Whew! I am glad it's over! I was glad to see more green flag racing this week unlike the Lowe's Demolition Derby 500 sponsored by Coca Cola.

Ok--let me preface by saying I am a die-hard Jeff G. fan. When you walk into my office at work and at home you can pretty much tell who my driver is, but on Sunday I was a little ashamed to call myself a Gordon fan. Tony barely hit you Jeff...it was like he did it on purpose (well, from what I observed on the replays) and if you think about it you know he didn't either. You even said Tony had the better car. I know from regular street driving that "slow cars" should be in the right hand lane to allow the faster cars to pass. Maybe if you had used this policy on Sunday you wouldn't have gone out on lap 41. So you dropped out of the top ten this week, you are still within the 400 points of the leader and there are still 13 races until you get to the chase. Word of advice....build that bridge and get over it. If this keeps up, I may have to seriously think about my membership with your Gordon network, etc. I will be watching.



Jeff you said you would get back Tony at a later time--don't you think NASCAR will be watching you???
Oh well...the saga continues


Tony was having a decent day until the little love pat by Jimmie--his car wasn't quite the same after that and plus it doesn't help when you get caught speeding the NASCAR police in the pits.

Congratulations to Greg Biffle! He had the car to beat on Sunday--Wow! I am still a little puzzled by the Subway commercial. Why does he have the sandwich in his lap while he is driving?



And it was nice to see teammates paying nice with one another on the race track

Lowes--The Aftermath

I am still wondering what the hell happened last week at Lowes. It felt like the race would never end. I mean come on guys 5 1/2 hours and 22 caution flags (NASCAR record for any race). First things first, Jimmie did win his 3rd 600 in a row, but I would have enjoyed much more if Bobby Labonte would have been able to hang on right there at the end to win. It would have been great to see an ol' Texas boy win one especially with the way things have been going for him. He seemed very disappointed about his 2nd place finish. Nobody likes to finish in 2nd, come on Bobby--you survived the melee of Lowes and so did your car--you did a great job!

I am sick and tired of Brian Vickers or Brian "Wreckers" as he was affectionately called in the Power Rankings this week on NASCAR.com. This is the first time he has bumped into another a car and caused a major wreck and for some reason (call me crazy) it probably won't be the last time either. He took out Mark Martin and his own teammate Jeff Gordon.

Speaking of taking out teammates--what is up with DEI???? Come on Dale Jr. you don't run into your teammate like you did. I would have come out slugging if I were your teammate and you crashed into my car and eliminated me from a race. And poor Matt Kenseth was just an innocent bystander. I think you should leave DEI and go with an owner that has no family ties. (I hear Jack Roush will have any opening next year or why not seek out Richard Childress--seemed to work for your father.) I love my family, but I wouldn't want to work with them. I have never jumped on the #8 band wagon, but I do think Jr is a good driver and has a lot of potential, but I just don't think he is in the right organization. I know he lives under a microscope because he is Dale Sr's son and the amount of pressure is something I wouldn't want to live under, but I think he needs to step back and look at things.

And poor Jeff Gordon--first he has a horrible experience at Wrigley Field (that's right Wrigley Field..not Wrigley Stadium) and then the track attacks his car. Plus it was his fourth DNF this year--but look on the bright side--he is still in the top ten.

Mr. Edwards meet Mr. Jarrett. What would have happened to Mr. Edwards car if Mr. Jarrett had been driving the truck???

Watched the final episode of the Michael Waltrip Tourney on Speed last night. Was there any doubt that Tony would lose? I did make one observation about Tony..he was very anal with his chips. The stacks were even height and towards the end he had them arranged so they made some pyramid design. I think Elliot and Tony share the same grooming tips!

The commentators kept talking about the fact that Elliot "cleaned up" for the final game. It was getting a little annoying guys. I think Elliot looks fine to me. I wouldn't kick him out of bed. And I just lovvvveeee his accent.



If they have this tourney again they need to find better commentators. Maybe they should get those guys from Bravo's Celebrity Poker Show--at least they can be entertaining at times.

Now to this week--Dover!

Last year Mark Martin won the race after Kasey spun out in some oil. It would be nice to see ol' Mark win. He has been having a good year.
